It’s part of their nature and their genetic heritage. Active dogs are happy dogs in much the same way that active humans are happy humans.
The name was chosen by the creators of “Alcott Afoot,” the storybook adventure where Alcott first came to life. The name just seemed to fit. He was designed to look a little bit like everyone's dog or at least a dog you probably know.
Our business was incorporated in 2013, but Alcott and his adventurous ways first came to life in 2011. We spent some long hours working on our brand and the plan to conquer the dog adventure gear space, even before we began on making our products.
We’re in West Chester, Ohio located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio.
One thing we think you’ll appreciate is that if your dog wears, say, a large in alcott life jacket, he or she will likely wear a large in every other product of ours too. But before buying our gear, be sure to check out the sizing guide.
Adventures are often dirty, so yes, virtually all of products are washable, but consult the packaging and label for specifics. All of our bed covers are machine washable!
Nope. We love all animals, but truth be told: there’s a special place in our hearts for dogs. We don’t see that changing. But this much is certain, if we did expand our product line it would still be all about adventure.
You can return an unused product you purchased on our website within 30 days for a full refund or to exchange it for another product. If over 30 days, we provide website credit only.
If you purchased your item at a retailer, you need to return the product there according to their policies.
If you’re a retailer interested in selling Alcott products, we’d love to talk. Our dealer incentives include a $7.99 flat rate shipping, no minimum order and⎯most importantly⎯the chance to offer your customers one-of-a-kind, four-legged adventures. Some pet parents ask us, "why don't you put a minimum + maximum dog weight on the packaging so I know which size to get my dog?". We have a few responses to that question, but the most common one is simply: every dog is different. Even within their own breeds, dog body shapes and weights vary drastically. Can you imagine buying your clothes based on your weight?! It just isn't practical. So before you invest in our adventure gear, we suggest measuring your thrill sniffer first. It might take a few extra minutes now, but it will save many more minutes + frustration by having to go through the return/exchange process.
Within our brand, we have done our best to create a consistent sizing system. If your dog wears our medium collar, it is likely that they will also need a medium bed and wear medium apparel + accessories. However, that's not always the case. Take Typo Cremeans, our rescued mystery mutt, for instance... his head is an small, his neck is a medium and his body can range between large and medium. We've met a few pugs and boston terriers along the way that can wear both small and medium harnesses comfortably. All of our gear that your pup has to wear around their neck, chest and/or waist is adjustable. So your particular dog could be the largest possible size of our medium gear or the smallest possible size that our large gear goes. You won't know until you measure, so please refer to our handy dandy sizing guides below before you buy.
If you're unsure, send some pictures of your dog to us at email@example.com and we'll do our best to fit your dog virtually. We'll exchange your gear for free if we guess wrong.
Heck, we'll even do that if you guess wrong. Click here to check out our return + exchange policy.
